Huai Chomphu is a coffee-growing area in the mountainous region of Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Surrounded by attractions such as Doi Chang, a well-known highland resort, and Khun Khon Waterfall, the region is also home to nationally designated nature reserves, ensuring the preservation of its rich environment. While coffee is the main economic driver, the area also produces rice, corn, oranges, and pineapples—crops that share a common trait: a fruity profile with a soft, gentle acidity.
This lot comes from Huai Chomphu and is a microlot curated by Beanspire Coffee. It features the Chiang Mai variety, a local Thai hybrid of SL28, Caturra, and Catimor, combining Catimor’s disease resistance with the aromatic qualities of SL28. The variety was first planted as part of the Royal Project initiated by Thailand’s late king.
The cup profile is unique, with notes reminiscent of white rum and the rich fragrance of red wine, finishing with lingering fruit-like complexity. A distinctive and memorable coffee worth experiencing.
