LACAU

EAST TIMOR

I’m curious what Lakau Village in Timor-Leste is like.

Some people might imagine a flavor profile similar to Indonesian coffees. Since it is from Southeast Asia and processed as a washed coffee, Papua New Guinea may seem like the closest comparison. But even if the regions are geographically close, when considering plate tectonics and the principle that different plates can mean different soils, the Philippines might actually be the closer reference point.

This is a micro-lot coffee grown in Lakau Village, Timor-Leste. It is JAS Organic certified and cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. It was grown at an elevation of 1,500 meters and processed using the washed method. The cup offers a well-balanced sweetness and acidity, with distinctive notes of cherry and chocolate.
