Nigusse, the owner of this farm, won first place in Ethiopia’s inaugural Cup of Excellence in 2020. This remarkable achievement gave him strong motivation to expand both his coffee farms and natural processing sites in the Sidama region. His son, Tewodros Nigusse, now serves as export manager, working to further enhance the quality of their coffee production while actively promoting it in international markets.

Nigusse’s farm in Sidama is located next to that of Tamil from ALO Coffee. Since the launch of the COE in Ethiopia, Sidama has emerged as one of the country’s top coffee origins—and it continues to be one of the most exciting regions to watch.

Beyond his own farm, Nigusse supports local farmers in producing higher-quality coffee. At the Karamo coffee station, he organizes an Outgrowers’ Day to encourage smallholder suppliers, providing not only recognition but also financial support for their hard work. He is also committed to community-based projects; in 2023, he built a school in the rural town of Bura, Sidama, creating access to quality education for local children and marking an important milestone in the region’s educational development.
