Sudan Rume is a rare Arabica variety originating from the Boma Plateau in Sudan, prized for its vibrant acidity, delicate complexity, and syrupy body. Believed to share a distant lineage with the Geisha variety, it was introduced to Colombia through the national research institute Cenicafé. Renowned for its exceptional cup quality, Sudan Rume has gained global attention and was even featured in the 2015 World Barista Championship. At Finca Buenos Aires, great care is taken to cultivate this variety under ideal conditions, carefully managing every stage of growth to express its full potential.

Founded about 20 years ago, Finca Buenos Aires is a family-run farm now led by Johanny González, the second generation. Working closely with local producers, the farm focuses on both quality improvement and market development. Situated at an elevation of 1,750–1,800 meters, it grows Caturra, Castillo, and Geisha, with a particular emphasis on enhancing Geisha quality. Their natural processing brings out a fruity sweetness and clean profile, earning recognition in international cupping competitions.

The farm is also a member of the Asociación de Productores Agrícolas Palmar de Criollo, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving coffee quality and supporting sustainable rural development. In collaboration with public and private institutions, they promote quality analysis, technical training, and infrastructure development. The farm practices agroforestry, minimizes the use of agrochemicals, and champions environmentally conscious and sustainable agriculture.
